Goodbye Rep. MatsuiJanuary 3, 2005
We wish condolences to the family of our long-time congressman, Rep. Robert Matsui, who passed away yesterday after a short illness. He and his family chose not to reveal that he was suffering from a rare blood disorder, often called “Pre-leukemia”. This disease weakened his immune system so that his recent bout with pneumonia was fatal. He is survived by his wife Doris and their only son. Honor to whom honor is due. Rep. Matsui was considered this nation’s leading expert on Social Security and helped to author the bill in the early 90s designed to make redress for the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War 2. Whether you agreed with his politics or not, everyone says that he was a gentleman’s gentleman.
